Yesterday I got to sleep in until 8:30!! I got like 8 hours of sleep! It felt sooo good. It was freezing outside, raining and windy, so i didnt want to get out of my sleeping bag, but eventually i did. We got to sleep in because it was siyyur. Rach was going to mount olives, but i was going to the supreme court! it was raining pretty hard when we walked to the bus stop. We had to wait for a little until the bus came. Luckily, i wore my rain boots and had my umbrella (but i shared that with people). I wasnt so smart and decided to wear my spring/fall jacket, instead of my rain jacket. When we got there we had to wait for a bit. We had to go in 2 by 2. It is interesting how much thought is put into building so it has meaning. For example, the 2 types of walls the building has is stone that looks like the kotel, and a plain, white wall. This represents that in the supreme court, they will be looking at someone from their past, and their present. Also, the white is also to represent a clean slate. Also, the stone goes outside of the building to represent that this idea of judging someone from their past and present should not only happen in the supreme court, but all throughout israel. Something that was cool about the building was on the sides of the stone, there was 3 inches of glass so you could look below. It looked exactly like the kotel looks like when you go on the tunnel at the kotel. It goes down for such a long time! I think they did that to make it look more like the kotel? Im not sure though. We got to go into a courtroom and it was the biggest one, but it was tiny!
After the siyyur, we walked back in the rain and katie and i had the best lunch. We put schnitzel in the oven and cut up a lot of veggies to dip in hummus. YUM! After lunch we had a bat yam orientation where we basically talked about the volunteering options. We then filled out a form of room requests and where we want to volunteer. I chose schools again, i wasnt really interested in the other options (some were mada, soup kitchen, animal shelter, center for elderly people, science museum, art museum, adult education, work with children and adults with special needs). Also, they really need a lot of volunteers in the schools. I liked being in a high school, so hopefully they will place me there.
Acharay the orientation, i had tea and crumpets with some brits (ha!) and then i went onto a bullet proof bus with shevet girls and we went to the west bank. We went there because we were going to the woman's house who talked to us last week. She served us such good food, we did not expect it at all! We talked about mikvah's and other girl things (periods, why married women cover their hair, mitzvot, etc). We also visited a mikvah and it looked so nice. We all really liked her because when she is teaching us things, she does it in a way that doesnt make us feel guilty. Plus, she even says that most things we do are okay (like not being shomer negiah)..she wasnt even shomer with her husband (before they got married, obviously). We all want to have another session with her!
When we got back to the apartment, erin straightened my hair and rachel, katie, britty, and i met up with rach's family on ben yehuda to go out for dinner. We went to this nice place where it was jazz night. The food was so good! We then went out for dessert and met up with more friends. Katie and i split a chunky monkey split at cafe remon. Chunky monkey split includes 4 scoops of ice cream (we got cookies n' cream, mocha, chunky money, and mango! ahahah..interesting combo), whipped cream, fruit salad, and a giant cookie (banana chocolate chip). i dont know if they put drugs or something in our dessert but we basically lost our minds. Actually, we were already crazy before the dessert came, so maybe something was put in our dinner? We both felt so sick from laughing so hard, while eating. When we got back to the apartment i was exhausted but didnt get to bed until 2 because it was seth's last time sleeping over (he leaves thursday). We are all going to be so upset when he leaves!!!
