FRIDAY:
On Friday, I woke up to my alarm and when I looked at the time, it said it was 8:50. My alarm went off 5 times and that was the first time I heard it. Oy! I showered and packed up and a about 15 minutes after 10 (we planned on leaving at 10) shir, maya, one of their friends from section 2, and me went to the bus stop to go to tel aviv. We ended up going to the mall for breakfast at cafe hillel. When we got there i saw meir advertising for teaching english. It was so funny, and luckily not really awkward. I got yogurt with nuts, honey, and fruit in it. It reminded me of what I got for breakfast everyday when mom and bubbe came to visit. After a really good breakfast, maya and I went to try and find where everyone else was to catch a bus. It was hot out and we walked around in circles looking for everyone else. Finally we meet up with everyone and after waiting for a bus that wouldnt come we decide to just walk to where the coach bus was. We were all so so so hot and sweaty. Nice sweat marks when we arrived. A great first impression on some of the other scouts that were there. After sitting and talking for a little we got on the coach bus and all of us slept. (by us I mean 3 scouts: ohad, maya, and nitzan and 9 year coursers: me, katie, kai, monica, michal, david, charlie, tamar, and leah)
When we got there we were wearing our blue young judaea shirts and everyone else was wearing their scout shirts. It was crazy. We then hung out and ate a lot of cookies. Then we got to the reason why we were there. We were in charge of the english part. So out of the 250 scouts, in the end only 80 of them will get to either work at a camp in america or do caravan. There was about 15 people per group and all of us (with a scout and 3 ycers) went and did role play with them. I had Kai, Katie, and Ohad in my group. Ohad would tell the Israelis what is going to happen and then he would say scenarios in english. Some of the scenarios were a camper wearing the same shirt and not showering (katie) or 2 campers being too competitive against each other (katie and me), a camper being bullied and homesick (kai), etc. It was so funny to watch, but I would get a little nervous each time!! During our free time, besides eating cookies, we would watch the auditions. They sang the song "Tagaleh et ha olam" and a dance. I know the dance! woo hoo!! Now I have 2 dances (that one and the hoe down throw down!!) It was a bit weird how most of the kids werent religious and auditions went on past 12! Also, it was really hard to remember that it was even shabbat.
