Today we had to be ready to go to shabbat services by 9. we ended up waiting at least a half hour before everyone came down. It's so annoying because everyone who was down there could have gotten an extra half hour of sleep! Anyways, we were divided up into the shuls where our host families belong to. The shul i went to was really close by. I forget the name of it but i think it is a new orthodox movement. i forget. The shul was beautiful and the people there were nice. After services we met up with our host families. A man came up to me, rach, and britt and i think his name was bob. We walked with him and his 12 year old son (he is gonna have his bar mizvah soon) back to their house. He has a wife and 3 kids. The older 2 are girls..one is 17 and one is 15. i liked them. and then his youngest is the boy. They were having more guests besides us, so we talked and ended up playing this fun game. One thing we talked about his how people dont listen and shut up when people (adults) are speaking to our group. Apparently, along with the british, israelis do so too. they dont even bother to whisper and they get practicially nothing done because people are always asking the teacher to repeat what they said. i guess i have to get used to this...but hopefully i wont be doing by the end of the 9 months!
We finally had lunch and it was so good. dessert was even better! we were there for like 4 and a half hours and so we awkwardly left because we were exhausted and werent sure when we had to be back. we were all so exhausted and needed to take a shabbas nap. we ended up having a couple of hours before we had to be ready so we put on yael naim on repeat and fell asleep. i kept on waking up to the same song (because it was on repeat and there were only 9 songs). eventually rachel woke up thinking we had to get ready. luckily we didnt and so she turned off the music and ended up sleeping for 2 hours in total. it was such a great shabbas nap! when it was time to get up we had to get dressed quickly for the israel football (soccer) game. we then had dinner and then had maariv. we then gathered around into a giant circle for havdallah. it was nice but they never sing the songs after the candle is extinguished...and that's my favorite part!!! :(
we then got loaded on buses and went to tel aviv for the soccer game! it was fun but israel ended up losing by 1..the score was 1-0. israel did not play well. we then got home late and now it is 2:15am and i have to wake up at 7:30am to be ready at 8am for my seminar on teaching english to students. great.

  1. Good Morning...well afternoon for you. I love reading your posts. I can't wait to hear all about your teaching adventures. Today we are moving Alex back to school (bittersweet of course...kind of...whatever!) Have you used your new cookbook yet? It sounds like you don't get much free time. Or do you? I am waiting anxiously for pics. Kisskiss, J.
