Yesterday I woke up at 7, but didn't get out of bed until 8:45ish. I had breakfast and then went to Ulpan. My teacher, unlike Leah's, wasn't mad that I didn't go to class. Leah's teacher didn't find it to be an an acceptable excuse for her not to go to class. Maybe that is why lice is so popular in Israel. Parents send their kids to school with lice. It is weird if they didn't. Gahhh. Hebrew went fine- a little boring, but during the break I did some lice checks. Everyone I checked looked clean. After ulpan, I ran home and then went to the mall to meet with my old teacher. He taught the Holocaust Film class in Jerusalem. He emailed us letting us know that he was going to be in Arad to give a seminar to the brits. He wanted to know if we wanted free pizza if we updated him on our lives. The pizza was good and it was fun-just a couple of us went.
After, I went to superpharm with Katie and then after almost buying hair stuff for kids that have bad hygenie, thinking it prevents lice, we talked to the pharmasist who helped Katie that morning buying stuff to kill the lice in her hair. He pretended he didn't know english so I would have to speak in hebrew. Didn't really work out. The other pharmasist gave me stuff that she said was really good. After I bought it, Katie put it in my hair and then she tightly french braided my hair. Then I went to my medical ethics class where we discussed if heart transplants are ethical. We discussed how different people think that one is dead once they are brain dead, while others think someone is dead once their heart stops beating. It was an interesting class, with no correct answer at the end. He also told me that all of his kids have come home with lice and my former teacher told me that his kids would always come home with lice from other kids at school. Not many people were in class.
I walked home with Cara singing Samson by regina specter (we are all obsessed with that song) and hung out for a little before going to my Tanach class. Rach and Katie went. They didn't go to the other class because they did laundry. In class we discussed the 12 spies and how they ultimatly made it so Moses couldn't enter the land of Israel and had to die, because God then saw that he was part of that generation who wanted to die in the desert. When God gave Moses the chance to make something holy (by commanding the rock to give water because God says so,) he just hit the rock and made the spotlight go on him, rather than God. It then says that people just drank, they didn't glorify over this miracle. The teachers said that his kids have gotten lice many times from school. He then drove a couple of us to the mall and it was chilly out, so I went home and grabbed a sweatshirt before heading back to the mall where it was movie and pizza night. I was so happy it was going to be at the bottom of the mall. Once many of us were there, they took us outside where we walked for about 20 minutes and went to the office. Ugh! We were so close to my apartment! We watched "Interstate 60: Episodes of the Road" and James Marsden was the lead. AHHH so cute. The pizza was really good. I didn't have pizza for 2 meals that day..what? After the movie and not wanting to leave, we walked/ran home. It was about 11 when we got home and then we started to pick their hair. I worked on Rach and she did Katie. We finished around 12:30ish. I made my bed and it was so nice to sleep with sheets and feel clean. Rach snored and I could hear her even with my ear plugs. Gr. Oh, I forgot to mention that more people found out they have lice. I fosh gave it to Rach and Katie and Leah and I feel so so so bad about that-but the other girls who now found some I did not give to. Someone made the lice in our section a facebook! hahaha. I don't think many people are going to get the woman leah and I got, but I am still so happy so I know that I really am clean. Also, instead of a process that takes about a week, mine only took 2.5 hours.
